Phone systems.

Voip phone systems are interesting to toy with.
It just has a very steap learning curve. I have so far set up a server and it is running Asterisk software. I have been able to get everything working on it with limited help from the internet.

It is alive and running not bad for a month or so of learning by yourself and not ever messing with a phone server before.
